Site Objective

My aim is to understand some of the dark arts of web design by having a go! This I am sure will take some time so please be patient.

It will include a wide range of material and topics that reflect our interests (for our profiles see the biographies in the About page). One of our main shared interests is our narrowboat which we bought 5 years ago so inevitably the web site will cover the cruises that we do. Our early retirement has opened up much greater opportunities to explore the inland waterways that we could not have previously covered in the normal vacations from work . In 2010 we spent 8 weeks on the boat which is covered in the narrowboat pages of this website. More recently we have returned from an 11 week cruise which took us onto the River Thames , including the tidal section from Limehouse to Teddington the lengthy story of this can be found under the recent posts.

Please feel free to leave your comments as it always good to know that someone out there is actually reading this stuff!

    Hi Andy,

I’m not sure if you remember me, because it’s some years ago as we are in contact around SAP Issues and the Implementation
in RRD. I visit Ansty last week and Stewart Morley told me that you are now in retirement and very busy on all the things
what you plan to do and he told me also about the narrowboat. I hope you enjoy your time with your familiy and all the things around.
    Kind regards
    Gerd Schiefer (RRD Oberursel)

Hi Gerd good to hear from you after all these years- of course I remember you. I would imagine a lot of changes have happened since we last met both to the systems and the people who use them! As you gathered from my blog and website I am really enjoying my “retirement” and seem busier than ever. I shall be seeing Stuart on Friday so will catch up on all of the latest news then. Take care and good to hear from you.

Great to see what you are up to and to see Brindley. It looks fantastic. Well done in achieving a perfect boat. Best of luck.

Hi John – thanks for the comments, we are really pleased with the boat and it has served us well and not let us down even in some interesting situations we have found ourselves in!
It must be ages since we last met when did you leave RR and what are you up to now?

Well done with your new venture. Something to fill all those empty hours in retirement!! Scythia’s fridge has gone on the blink, so I am trying to get it repaired by Inlander – new 12v ones are so expensive.

    Not Boating! But RR.

Andy, today I was at the RR Heritage Trust and was telling Ian Craighead about some pictures I was once shown (by bill the Commissionaire at the Marble Hall) of plans for alternative designs for the hall and some photos showing the gap made in the Commercial Block in readiness for building the Marble Hall. He knew nothing about these design ideas or the photos. I am begining to think I may have dreamt it – but I think not. I wonder if you had any recollection of this folder or any idea wher it may have gone. Hope you might hav an idea. Must go now and catch up on your adventures!
